About Desert Moon Song

Harps and keyboards evoke images of the vast and spacious Sonoran desert, creating a sense of mystery and inner calm. This updated version of Desert Moon Song was produced in cooperation with the Monroe Institute and is now combined with Hemi-Sync®. This patented, scientifically and clinically proven ‘audio guidance’ technology works through use of binaural beats and the generation of complex, multilayered audio signals which act together to create a resonance where the left and right hemispheres of the brain are working together in a state of coherence.

Desert Moon Song was inspired by Dean Evenson’s twelve-year sojourn in the Arizona desert and reflects a deep respect for the desert’s sacred and purifying energies. The music and nature sounds take the listener through the full cycle of a day, beginning with coyotes on a full moon night and moving into dawn and the awakening of the day. Included is a Native American Indian rain chant by Hopi elder Grandfather David Monongye. Afternoon monsoon rains and thunder follow. Dusk and evening nature sounds and a chorus of mating frogs complete the circle. This album introduced Dean Evenson’s daughter Sarah, then 15-years old, who played lead melody on “Grandfather Rain.” She and Dean composed the piece together. Hopi Grandfather David Monongye’s rain chant was recorded in 1972 at the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, Sweden. Dean’s wooden flute was personally created for him by a Native American friend. Soundings of the Planet in the movies – A track from Desert Moon Song was featured in the PBS documentary, ‘The Way West’ by Ric Burns. Another track was used on the Disney trailer for ‘Jungle Book.’ Contains Hemi-Sync® and binaural beats to enhance the relaxation response.
